Unlike conventional vacuum or air knife cleaners, the Micro Cleaner’s unique ultrasonic nozzle penetrates the boundary layer formed on a moving web. Small particles are trapped in this boundary layer and remain untouched by conventional web cleaners. The high frequency, high energy air pulses, 100 kHz and higher, generated by this system, break up the boundary layer and expose the trapped particles to the high level vacuum for easy removal.

Conventional systems that are mounted on opposite sides of the web may induce web flutter and damage the substrate. The typical solution is to increase the cleaner to substrate gap, thus compromising cleaning efficiency. Mounting the Micro Cleaner head above a back-up roll maintains a consistent substrate gap. This eliminates the possibility of web flutter and insures repeatable cleaning results.
